Book Fairs are no longer just picking books off of a shelf for purchase. At Westchester Torah Academy, the Book Fair meant a fun-filled week of literacy events for every age! On Monday, students and staff showed up in their pajamas with cozy blankets and pillows—a perfect way to relax with their favorite book for 10 minutes of “Drop Everything & Read” which started each day. With the help of parent volunteers, each class had time to visit the display of books and make a wishlist to bring home to their parents. On Wednesday, the school gathered on Zoom for a virtual musical bedtime story, and Thursday was an opportunity for students and teachers to dress as their favorite book characters! Between all the fun and excitement, each class was also visited by an administrator who read stories in both English and Hebrew, and younger classes were read to by older students for Big Brother/Big Sister reading time.
