Last week, the fifth grade girls, sixth grade boys and their parents gathered for WTA’s annual Bar and Bat Mitzvah Night. The night began with divrei Torah from Morah Deganit, followed by a chesed panel which discussed the importance of incorporating chesed into one’s simcha. Thank you to panelists, Elanit Paley (class of 2024), Penelope Jacobs (eighth grade) and Ari Feuer (sixth grade) and his mom Lauren, who shared what they did/are doing for their bnai mitzvah. They explained the ins and outs of their chesed projects and how it added many meaningful components to their experience. The boys then learned about the mitzvot of tefillin, aliya l’Torah and zimun and the girls learned about the holiness of Shabbat, specifically the qualities learned from Sarah and Rivka about the mitzvot of Shabbat. The girls then made their own challah covers to use in their homes. It was a very special evening and everyone is looking forward to celebrating their smachot together.
