WTA Commemorates Yom HaShoah With Fifth Grade Immigration Fair

As a tribute to the lives and legacies of those lost in the Shoah, Westchester Torah Academy decided to dedicate this year’s Yom HaShoah V’HaGevurah programming to their memory through a full day of uplifting and educational programming. Originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 3 (the day the school was shut down due to COVID-19), the fifth grade took this opportunity to present this unique and meaningful project to the entire WTA community and beyond. Parents, grandparents and community members gathered to see and hear the moving and inspiring family stories and personal histories as told from the point-of-view of the fifth grade students. Each student presented and described a treasured family heirloom or artifact, and then shared the story behind it. Stories were interspersed throughout with Hebrew songs appropriate to the mood of the day and concluded with the singing of Hatikvah.
