On Friday, the halls of Westchester Torah Academy were filled with joy, laughter and a deep sense of connection as they welcomed over 200 grandparents and VIP guests for the annual Grandparents & VIP Visitors Day. From the tiniest infants at just 8 weeks old to the soon-to-be graduates in eighth grade, students proudly shared their school experience with the special people in their lives.
The day began with a beautiful breakfast exclusively for visiting grandparents and VIPs. As guests enjoyed a delicious spread, they heard warm words of welcome from Head of School Dganit Ronen, a heartfelt bracha from Rabbi Avi Hoffman, Rav Bet HaSefer, and remarks from Rose Just-Michael, Director of Development, Morah Moshe, Early Childhood Director, and other representatives from across the school. The program set the tone for a day filled with meaning, pride and connection.
Following breakfast, guests moved into classrooms across campus to join their grandchildren and special friends for hands-on activities. Each room offered unique experiences highlighting the beauty of Jewish learning and tradition, with many projects centered around Yom Yerushalayim, Shavuot and Shabbat. Several classrooms also featured science-themed activities, some of which beautifully intertwined with Torah learning—illustrating how WTA embraces both tradition and modernity. Whether exploring the science of astrology or the way sound travels to exploring the synesthesia of the concept of “seeing” Hashem’s words at Har Sinai during Matan Torah, students and guests experienced firsthand the harmony between Torah and the world around us.
To help capture the memories of this special day, each guest received a custom souvenir magnet featuring a photo of themselves with their grandchildren or special student. These keepsakes were met with smiles and gratitude, offering a tangible reminder of the joy they shared together.
As the day came to a close, hugs, photos and heartfelt goodbyes filled the air. It was a day to remember—one that celebrated the strength of family, the joy of Jewish learning and the vibrant community that makes WTA so special.
WTA loves having grandparents and VIPs at school, and is already looking forward to next year’s celebration!
