WTA Joins ‘Names, Not Numbers©’

In today’s climate, it is critical for us to document the true stories of the remaining survivors of the Holocaust, lest their stories, their memories, and even the entire שואה be forgotten. Last week, WTA’s eighth graders were introduced to the “Names, Not Numbers©” program—a multimedia Holocaust history project where students learn first-hand from Holocaust survivors about their personal stories, and record the survivors’ oral histories using filmmaking techniques taught by professional journalists. In the spring, students’ final project will be presented as a special film screening, after which it will be archived at the National Library of Israel, Hebrew University and at Yad VaShem. Students were privileged to meet with Tova Fish-Rosenberg, founder of the program, as well as receiving a special coaching session about interview techniques from Jeffrey Salgo, a retired associate director and producer with CBS Network TV News. They’re looking forward to leaving a mark on the future with this impactful project.
