The all-male group went around the area surprising kids with gifts of Hot Wheels and their families with impromptu performances of the Kars4Kids jingle.
Kars4Kids is a Jewish nonprofit funding a full suite of year-round educational, youth development and mentoring programs in communities across the US. They are perhaps best known for their long-running radio jingle and innovative donation programs.
A dynamic group of a cappella artists from New York City, the Y-Studs have been performing across the globe since 2010. From Washington Heights to Washington, D.C. and from Jerusalem to Germany, the talented group has been entertaining and inspiring our community for almost a decade.
This holiday season, the Y-Studs and Kars4Kids got together to spread some holiday giving and brotherhood. They touched every family they met with their smiles, good cheer and perfect harmonies and left each child with warm memories and a signature gift.
It was a heartwarming day that aptly ended on a surprise high note. As the crew began wrapping up, they bumped into a Jewish family crossing Main Street with a couple of young children. Y-Stud’s president, Eitan Rubin, and group member Ari Mandelbaum couldn’t resist this last gifting opportunity and handed the last of the wrapped packages over to the two young boys.
The boys unwrapped the black wrapping, their eyes lighting up as they saw what was inside. Their dad turned to the group and told them just what had been going on. The family had woken up early that morning with a packed day ahead. They were heading out on a long road trip together but their car had broken down and the day quickly turned sour. In a last ditch effort to salvage what remained of the day, dad decided to take the family out to pizza to make up for a bit of what they had missed. The Y-Studs caught them just as they were heading into the pizza shop and the gloomy day turned sunny again.
Amazing what a little gifting and good cheer can do.
