On Wednesday, July 21, Yachad and Camp Mesorah will come together for The Chani Rubin z”l Yachad and Camp Mesorah Annual 5k. Dedicated two years ago in memory of Chani Rubin z”l, the annual run in Camp Mesorah is a highlight of the summer for the whole camp. It is a time where we take the day to spotlight the special relationship between Camp Mesorah and Yachad, a true partnership and model of inclusion. Chani Rubin, z”l, who grew up in Passaic, spent many summers working in camp as part of Yachad’s Vocational Program, where she held a variety of positions, such as assistant in the art room, day camp morah and sorting the mail on girl’s campus. She was not only a dedicated worker but a wonderful friend to so many and committed strongly to Torah and mitzvot. Camp Mesorah was Chani’s “happy place.” She would count down the days from one summer until the next, awaiting the days she could spend with her Camp Mesorah friends. This year’s 5k theme is “Grit ‘N Wit,” a full course of obstacles that will require teamwork and achdut amongst everyone. What better way to exemplify the achdut that Yachad brings to camp then an activity that promotes everyone working together! Following the run, the event will conclude with an evening concert, celebrating the incredible partnership of Yachad and Camp Mesorah.
Proceeds from the annual 5k go to support The Chani Rubin z”l Yachad Summer Scholarship Fund. If you would like to make a donation and sponsor a runner, please go to Mesorah.teamyachad.com
