Attendees gathered at the Woodmere Country Club in New York for a special evening that highlighted the honorees and the collective impact of Yachad for individuals with disabilities, their families and beyond.
“Yachad means together, and we aren’t only looking to engage with our participants. We’re also looking to engage with the New York communities we operate in to create a space where everyone belongs,” said Jonathan Zar, regional director of Yachad New York.
Yachad is an international organization that’s dedicated to enriching the lives of Jewish individuals with disabilities and their families via social, recreational, educational and vocational programs in 10 regions across the United States, Israel and Canada.
“The Yachad gala is more than a celebration,” said Rebecca Shatz, director of development, Yachad New York “It’s really a testament to the power of inclusion. Every story shared and connection formed is a powerful reminder of why we do this work.”

The gala centered around the organization’s three core pillars: education, employment and relationships, highlighting Yachad’s IVDU schools as the educational component, the Jewish Union Foundation (JUF), which provides employment services, and the relationships fostered through Yachad’s summer and regional programs.
Yachad New York offers unique social integration opportunities for individuals with disabilities of all ages, including nightly activities and shabbatons, to foster inclusion in the greater Jewish community. Every honoree was celebrated for their dedication, commitment and leadership within this region. Among the honorees were Beth and David Swedarsky, Yachad Dor L’ Dor Award recipients; Sarah and Aaron Trauring, IVDU Family Award recipients; and Rosie Bleich, Keter Shem Tov Award recipient. Additionally, SAR was honored with the School Partnership Award for their role in fostering support and inclusion opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Yachad’s leadership, including international director Avromie Adler and associate director Chani Herrmann, were excited to participate in this meaningful event.
“Mazel tov to all the honorees,” said Herrmann. “We are so grateful to the New York community for coming out to support Yachad. This was an incredible night filled with dedication and tremendous support for all the work we are doing together.”
