The Kiryat Shemona Hesder Yeshiva presents an evening with Yair Kraus, distinguished Israeli journalist and Kiryat Shemona Hesder Yeshiva alumnus. Kraus will speak about “Strengthening Israel’s North Through Security and Resilience” and the impact of the Kiryat Shemona Hesder Yeshiva on the Galilee region on Thursday, September 12, at 8 p.m. at the home of Gabrielle and Daniel Altman, 727 Dearborn Street, Teaneck.
Kraus will discuss Hezbollah’s terror tunnels, life in the northernmost region in Israel, the unique population and societal tapestry in the Galilee, and emergency preparedness in the Galilee’s capital, Kiryat Shemona. Kraus will be accompanied by Michal Natan, who will speak about the yeshiva and its sister organization, Bizzur, and the programs they run in Kiryat Shemona and the surrounding areas.
Kraus is a correspondent for the northern region and for environmental issues for the Makor Rishon newspaper. Kraus is a graduate of the Kiryat Shmona Hesder Yeshiva. He lives in Acre with his wife Efrat, and their three children.
Natan is the resource developer for the yeshiva and has worked with numerous Israeli organizations to continue their positive impact on Israeli society.
The Kiryat Shemona Hesder Yeshiva and Bizzur reinforce the Galilee in accordance with Jewish values. They are located in the northernmost border of Israel. The yeshiva’s critical location represents today’s Zionist mission of strengthening the borders of Israel. The yeshiva was founded by Rav Zephania Drori in 1977. Its students serve in combat and elite units in the IDF and personify every aspect of the military and civilian mission of am Yisrael. Since its founding, the yeshiva has been directly involved in the physical security of Kiryat Shemona and the surrounding region through its sister organization, Bizzur. Bizzur concentrates on strengthening the civilian population of Kiryat Shemona and the Upper Galilee through social, educational, academic and spiritual welfare programs, particularly as the region faces Hezbollah rocket attacks and tunnels.
