Yasher Koach of the Week -8th grade RYNJ Jaguars

Last season the RYNJ Jaguars 8th grade basketball team was a force to be reckoned with in the Junior High Yeshiva Basketball league.  The 2012-13 Jaguars lost only two regular season games en-route to a crushing semifinal loss at Yeshiva of Flatbush.  Unfortunately for this year’s crew the tide had seemed to turn. The 2013-14 Jaguars started the season 0-6, each loss by double digits.

On Tuesday evening January 14th 2014, the western division leading RPRY basketball team traveled to River Edge, hoping to extend the Jaguars imperfect record.  The Jaguars took the court confident that this was not to be the case. Coach Steve Gutlove told the JLBC “the team took the court feeling very confident after a terrific pregame walk through, and inspirational talk from the Yeshivas chairman of the board (and #1 fan) Rabbi Yehuda Rosenbaum.”

The Jaguars attacked early and often, finishing the half on a 10-0 run. Taking the ball to the basket with authority and cleaning up the boards. RPRY did not sit back and accept defeat, they proved that they deserved to be one of the top teams in the league and kept clawing back. RPRY brought the game back to 61-60, with seconds to play and Binyamin (clutch) Senter at the line. Senter lived up to his nickname and hit the pair, sealing the victory for RYNJ.

Yasher Koach!!
