Yavneh Academy has been involved in various programs to feel a connection to and offer support for our family in Israel. Of the many initiatives offered recently, those conceived and worked on by their students have been the most impactful.
A number of middle school students have relatives who are chayalim, and they were looking for a way to help them from overseas. After a particularly impactful get-together with a presentation, kumzitz and Tehillim for Israel, Noa Aiash, Jacob Mantell, Talia Bursztyn and Tamar Adams came forward with the idea of a blue and white snack sale, with the proceeds going to support soldiers.
At the same time, other students set up a table for their peers to write notes to soldiers, which would be included in packages going to Israel. A committee of students formed to help with this project as well. Not only was this campaign a show of support for Israel, but the students were able to feel supported as they tried to make a difference by aiding those in our homeland.
