Yom Ha’atzmaut celebrations began at Yavneh with a school wide tekes featuring tefillot for Israel and tzahal, a special video from Israel wishing Yavneh Academy a Chag Atzmaut sameach and the seventh grade girls’ daglanut performance.

Early childhood then proceeded out to the fields for a parade celebrating Israel. Each class created a beautiful banner for an Israeli city and proudly marched around the field with their banner. The students then participated in rikudei am and rotated between different stations including boot camp with Chayal Arik, gardening innovations in Israel with Farmer Sarah, Israeli dance with Coach Lauren and Tel Aviv soccer with Coach Aliza. Of course, lots of Israeli snacks were provided for all the students.

Lower school students (wearing their Israel/Yavneh iron-ons) were treated to a carnival featuring musical activities in Tzfat, fishing and water play in Eilat, enjoying juice and chocolate milk on a kibbutz, and writing a petek to place in the Kotel. The students then headed to the south where they feasted on pita in Be’er Sheva and created sand art bottles in Mitzpe Ramon.

Middle school students participated in a Yom Ha’atzmaut scavenger hunt featuring the four cities in Israel represented by four soccer teams. Hapoel Be’er Sheva—red/Maccabi Haifa—green/Beitar Yerushalayim—blue/Maccabi Tel-Aviv—yellow.
