Yavneh Academy eighth graders celebrated the arrival of Shabbat with their first oneg of the year.

The oneg was the first component of the students’ leadership training program. The eighth graders are true role models for the middle school students in sixth and seventh grade. Friday was an opportunity to hear divrei Torah from Head of School Rabbi Knapp and Student Council president Liana Kahan, dance and sing together and enjoy a pre-Shabbos potato kugel treat.

Together students established the purpose of the oneg. Yavneh is looking forward to the eighth graders developing future oneg celebrations with the sixth and seventh graders..The camaraderie of the students and teachers celebrating Shabbat made for a wonderful way to conclude the first days of school.
