As part of the Yavneh Academy first grade science unit on the six major animal groups, the first graders dove right into their latest group—fish! The students researched fish characteristics, as they explored non-fiction texts in depth and learned how to select and highlight important key words from paragraphs. They learned a fun song to help remember the physical characteristics of fish, which the students then labeled on their fish illustrations. They explored the different levels of the ocean, and created their very own ocean full of fish facts and fun!
