On the first day of school, Yavneh Academy sixth graders experienced our Jumpstart orientation program, helping them acclimate to daily life in middle school. After a grade-wide tefillah where they were led through the structure and content of sixth grade davening, the students joined a spirited full middle school welcome back pep rally. Morning classes followed and the sixth graders reviewed their schedules, set up their lockers and learned about the “ins and outs” of the Yavneh middle school day. Administrators circulated in the hallways all day to ensure that the students were smoothly moving from class to class.
In the afternoon, the second part of the Jumpstart orientation began. The new middle school students engaged in team-building interactive activities that involved archery, inflatables and of course ice cream! Students had the opportunity to have some fun while getting to know each other.
Students ended the day by debriefing with administrators and discussing what they really enjoyed about their day today as well as asking any additional questions they still had about middle school.
