Yavneh Academy has been discussing that every Jew in the world is capable of contributing something on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Israel, and that the students’ role includes increasing Torah learning and tefillah. To highlight those ideas, parent-child mishmar focused on different types of tefilla, centered on a thought of Rabbi Jonathan Sacks that discusses tefillah of a navi and tefillah of a Kohen. Over 130 middle school students and parents came out for a very spirited program complete with beit midrash-style learning, short shiurim from Rabbi Penn, Rabbi Schreiber and Rabbi Ross, and dinner from Dougies! May their learning, their tefillot and their tzedaka serve as a merit for Am Yisrael during these times.
