Yavneh Academy Holds Third Annual STEM Night

Yavneh Academy’s educational technology department hosted its third annual Family STEM Night, for students in grades three to four, accompanied by their parents, grandparents or special adults. All who attended agreed it was an incredible event. This year, the event was driven by the middle school students who participated in Yavneh’s STEM leadership program. The STEM leaders researched and then created an activity. They then facilitated the activities for the participating families. The evening consisted of numerous interactive, hands-on activities, with an emphasis on robotics, engineering and collaborative skills. These activities ranged from low-tech (build a straw house) to high tech (code a robot to complete a task). They encompassed all aspects of STEM including chemistry (self-inflating up balloons) and electricity (creating with paper circuitry).
