Yavneh Academy Hosts Science Fair

The “As Seen on TV” theme was the focus of Yavneh Academy’s sixth grade Science Fair. The students investigated various products, including ice cream makers, hair straighteners, adhesives, adhesive removers and paper towels, to assess the truthfulness of their advertised claims. By applying their understanding of the scientific method, the students chose a product, developed a hypothesis and then conducted experiments to determine the accuracy of the product’s claims.

They presented their discoveries on poster boards and gave explanations during on-site presentations to the fourth grade classes during the day and to family and friends in the evening. The project will end with the students writing letters to the manufacturers highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the tested products. Both parents and students found the Science Fair to be informative, as they will use what they learned to make informed decisions about which products to purchase and which ones to avoid.
