Yavneh Academy Middle School students celebrated the first siyum of the Shnayim Mikra program this past week. Over 25 students successfully learned all or most of the parshiyot in sefer Bereishit with at least one translation and commentary over the course of the past three months and were treated to a delicious lunch of pizza and ice cream. After eating, students were shown a video where each one of them shared something new that they had learned in Sefer Bereishit, and then played a Kahoot reviewing facts from throughout the sefer. The siyum concluded with a short shiur from Rabbi Aaron Ross about some of the major ideas in sefer Shemot, which many of the students have begun learning as well. Additionally, students who chose to take weekly quizzes about the parsha received a sefer by Rav Asher Weiss about parshat hashavua. A huge kol hakavod to the many students who have made this learning a part of their weeks, and a special thank you to Josh Rossman for all of his work in coordinating the program.
