In honor of President’s Day, Yavneh Academy Gan students learned about the responsibilities of the president, and a little history behind the presidency in our country. They learned about two of the most well-known presidents, who celebrate February birthdays—George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. They imagined themselves as future presidents and worked on a writing experience about what goals, dreams and ambitions they would have. Some of these ideas included keeping the country safe, helping poor people, making laws to protect people, helping people get jobs, making sure people don’t get hurt and being a leader in the army.
In third grade, students were treated to a special visit from President Abraham Lincoln in honor of his 212th birthday! The students heard some stories about Lincoln’s childhood and asked Lincoln many questions about the challenges he faced early in life and during his presidency.
