Yavneh eighth grade students opened their social studies class with a fun group activity. Each group of students received a bag of puzzle pieces that when completed, represented an upcoming unit of study. The students raced to find corners and match words on their puzzle pieces. As each group completed their puzzle, they analyzed the primary source revealed in the puzzle and made predictions about the people and places shown. The students were introduced to the attack on Fort Sumter, Ford’s Theatre, the Transcontinental Railroad and even a political cartoon about the Reconstruction Era. The students are excited to delve into these topics this year!
