On Sunday evening, July 5, Yavneh Academy’s newly graduated eighth graders gathered on the field at Yavneh Academy. They came home one last time to pick up their yearbooks and to participate in the annual tradition of signing each other’s books as a memento to carry with them as they leave the Redhawk nest. As they chatted through their masks at tables or spread out in circles on the turf, the students felt a sense of closure on this surprising and challenging year. Pizza and ice cream were enjoyed, goodbyes were said and fun was had by all. Thank you to the administration, faculty and maintenance staff who came out on the holiday weekend to make the event happen. Most importantly, thank you to the graduates, and to the parents who brought them, for making this event the kind of celebration one expects at the end of eighth grade. And to those who couldn’t join their class on the field because they were isolating in anticipation of sleep away camp—look out for a delivery early this week!
