Yavneh Academy third grade students investigated precipitation as part of their unit on weather. In this experiment, students used shaving cream to represent the water vapor that forms clouds. Then, they added different concentrations of food coloring to model the formation of cumulonimbus clouds (rain clouds). Students tested their predictions about the duration it would take for their model rain clouds to produce rain under different conditions. The students enjoyed working with their partners to analyze the results of this colorful experiment!
