The Jewish Link mourns the passing of Rabbi Dr. Mordechai Glick of Bergenfield. An early supporter and incisive writer for The Jewish Link, Rabbi Glick was one of our own, though firstly he was the husband of our own beloved contributing editor Nina Glick. A musmach of the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, Rabbi Dr. Glick was longtime mara d’atra of Congregation Ahavat Yisroel in Montreal, Quebec, and was a beloved psychologist, therapist and college professor. He was incredibly active in his own community and was among the founders of Maison Shalom, a special organization in Montreal that built multiple live-in kosher homes with a full range of therapy and family support services for Jewish adults with special needs.
Rabbi Glick was also a popular speaker, with Nina, at marriage and singles retreats. For several years Rabbi Glick served as president of Nefesh: The International Association of Orthodox Mental Health Professionals.
Rabbi Glick’s children in our area include daughter and son-in-law Dena and our co-publisher Moshe Kinderlehrer, and daughter and son-in-law Chavie and Rabbi Chaim Hagler. The Glick family also includes daughters Malkie (in Rochester), Naama (Montreal) and son Akiva (Brooklyn). Nina and Rabbi Glick are also grandparents and great-grandparents to many. We extend birkat tanchumin to Nina and the entire Glick extended families. They receive our deepest condolences and prayers at this sad time.
