The first round of the Yeshiva League Hockey playoffs had everything from comebacks to dominant wins, and a few surprises in between. With the quarterfinals now set, the competition is only getting tougher.
Kushner VS MTA
For most of the game, it looked like MTA had Kushner’s number, holding a 1-0 lead deep into regulation. But the Cobras weren’t ready to go home just yet. A late push flipped the script, and Kushner pulled off a 2-1 comeback win to punch their ticket to the next round. Their reward? A showdown with DRS at the Greenhouse, where they’ll look to keep the momentum going.
HAFTR VS YDE
HAFTR came into this one as the clear favorite, but YDE didn’t back down. They made things far more difficult than expected, forcing HAFTR to grind out a 2-0 win. Now, HAFTR turns its attention to a high-energy battle against SAR at the Hive, where both teams will be looking to make a statement.
Flatbush VS North Shore
Flatbush wasted no time putting North Shore away, running up a 10-3 win in the most lopsided game of the round. But their next challenge will be much tougher, as they now take on TABC. If Flatbush wants to keep its playoff run alive, they’ll need to step up in a big way.
Frisch VS Ramaz
Frisch had no trouble taking care of business, cruising to a 6-1 win over Ramaz. Their next game against HANC is already being called the matchup of the round, with two strong teams set to battle for a spot in the semifinals. Expect a fast-paced, hard-fought game with plenty of intensity.
