An exciting program is beginning that brings together two institutions located on opposite sides of the Hudson River. Young Israel of Fort Lee and Yeshiva University invite the entire community to a fall learning series featuring Rabbi Dr. Richard Hidary, a noted scholar and highly regarded professor at Stern College for Women. The lecture series, entitled “Transformation & Continuity,” will focus on events and texts from the Second Temple era that have shaped Judaism and world history. Rabbi Dr. Hidary’s presentations will focus on an array of historically significant documents including the Cyrus Cylinder, the Elephantine Papyri and the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Rabbi Zev Goldberg, rabbi at Young Israel of Fort Lee noted, “We are very excited about our fall learning series with Rabbi Dr. Hidary. The course is a unique opportunity to learn in a scholarly and academic environment without having to travel to a university campus.”
Rabbi Yaakov Glasser, The David Mitzner Dean of Yeshiva University’s Center for the Jewish Future, also remarked, “We are delighted to partner with Young Israel of Fort Lee to offer the community the opportunity to learn from one of Yeshiva University’s extraordinary faculty members. Rabbi Dr. Hidary’s Jewish History course is sure to enlighten and inspire.”
The course begins on Wednesday, November 16 at 10:00 am and runs for four consecutive Wednesdays. The tuition for all four classes is $100. Sign up online at yiftlee.org/class. For additional information, call Young Israel of Fort Lee at
