(yumacs.com) The Yeshiva University Athletics Department has announced the schedule for the upcoming men’s basketball season. The Maccabees look to continue their momentum from last season’s historic run that included two victories in the NCAA Tournament, a Skyline Conference championship, an NCAA Division III-best record of 29-1, and finishing the year ranked No. 8 in the country.
Pre-season No. 4 Yeshiva will be tested this year as the defending Skyline Conference champions play three games against NCAA Division III Tournament contenders, including the season opener at Moravian College on Tuesday, February 2. YU has a pair of games against No. 24 University of Saint Joseph. The Maccabees host the first game on February 27, while the second game will be played at the O’Connell Athletic Center on March 1.
Yeshiva battles NCAA Division II powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas College, at Aquinas Hall, on February 10. The Spartans enter the year ranked No. 12 in Division II, according to the D2SIDA poll.
The Maccabees will compete in six games against Skyline opponents beginning with a home-and-home set against the Mariners of the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The contest on February 13 will be held at the Max Stern Athletic Center, and then round two will take place the next evening at Liebertz Gymnasium. Yeshiva will also have a pair of games with Manhattanville College on February 20 and February 21. The Valiants are slated to host in the first contest, while the Macs are scheduled to be the home team the next night. YU takes on Sarah Lawrence College at the Campbell Sports Center, on February 24, and then the second head-to-head matchup between the Maccabees and Gryphons will take place at the Max Stern Athletic Center to close out the regular season on March 3.
The Skyline Conference will not be conducting a postseason basketball tournament this year, but the Maccabees will still have a chance at earning an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.
