Yeshiva University High School for Boys

Yeshiva University High School for Boys (MTA) is an outstanding yeshiva high school serving boys in grades 9-12. We believe that high school is one of the most important periods of personal growth and development in a young man’s life, and we strive to not only educate each talmid, but to help guide them on their journey towards becoming a ben Torah. The core values that inform our yeshiva culture are to build up others and ourselves, develop strong relationships and serve as a positive force. These concepts underlie the overall MTA experience and environment.

MTA’s legacy as the oldest yeshiva high school in the country (founded in 1916) provides our talmidim with an entry into a legacy that is built on excellence in Torah study, spiritual growth and academic achievement. Located on the campus of Yeshiva University, our educational experience provides talmidim with a host of powerful educational and religious opportunities, ranging from regular shiurim from YU roshei yeshiva, to chavrusa learning with Yeshiva University college students, to research opportunities in the college labs, and access to YU courses. In fact, our 12th grade talmidim are able to take up to four YU college classes as part of their regular schedule for college credit, at no additional cost to them.

At the center of our growth-oriented environment is the shiur. Our goals for limudei kodesh are not only to teach our talmidim the skills needed to become independent Torah learners as adults, but to help them gain a sense of love of Torah. This is achieved through the unique atmosphere of the shiur. Shiur meets every day for a significant portion of the entire limudei kodesh schedule, and during that time, talmidim are able to develop strong relationships with their rebbe and fellow members of the shiur. As a result, these relationships last well beyond the year or four years of high school. Virtually every MTA graduate attends yeshiva in Israel, often for multiple years, and students are known at each yeshiva to be particularly well prepared for an intensive learning experience in Israel.

Every graduate of MTA attends a college or university, and our outstanding general studies program effectively prepares our talmidim for success at their next stages of education. A strong core program that results in a New York State Board of Regents diploma is just the start. Talmidim are given the chance to pursue their passions in our unique areas of concentration, where, starting in ninth grade, they are exposed to each of our four core electives: Business and Entrepreneurship, Scientific Engineering, Graphic Design and Computer Science. They are then given the opportunity to select one of these areas to focus on more deeply during their remaining high school years. This complements a robust set of advanced placement course offerings, as well as high honors courses that challenge boys in that track at the highest level. Our graduates are regularly one of the largest cohorts of young men to be admitted to Yeshiva University’s Honors College program and are well prepared for all of the rigors of secondary education.

We encourage you to come experience MTA for yourself. Please join us at our Open House on November 4, and schedule a visit. We welcome the opportunity to meet with every prospective family to learn more about each boy’s particular aspirations for success in yeshiva. MTA is accredited by the Middle States Association of Independent Schools and is a member of NYSAIS, the New York State Association of Independent Schools. We look forward to welcoming you!
