Yeshiva University Men’s Soccer Secures No. 5 Seed In Skyline Championships

(yumacs.com) The Yeshiva University men’s soccer team concluded the 2022 regular season with a hard-fought loss to Manhattanville College, 1-0, at GoValiants.com Field on Tuesday evening. As a result, the Maccabees (7-3-2, 6-3-2 Skyline) clinched the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Skyline Conference Championships and will take on the fourth-seeded Knights of Mount Saint Mary College, at Kaplan Field, on Sunday afternoon. Start time is to be announced.

The regular season finale between Yeshiva and Manhattanville (9-4-4, 7-1-3 Skyline) was scoreless for most of the contest. Yeshiva played the final 38:20 of the match shorthanded. The Valiants took advantage of their man-up opportunity in the 76th minute, as freshman Arjan Delija took a feed from senior Matt Rabadi and rifled the ball into the back of the cage to give Manhattanville the 1-0 advantage.

Yeshiva had a chance to tie it in the 88th minute, but senior Alexandre Assouline’s shot just sailed wide right. Manhattanville went on to clinch the victory and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Skyline Championships.

During the evening, Manhattanville outshot Yeshiva, 13-6, and had the advantage in shots on goal, 7-3. The Valiants had a slight edge in corner kicks, 6-4.

Senior goalkeeper Benjamin Brener made six saves for the Maccabees, while junior Luis Granados stopped all three shots he faced to earn the shutout victory for the Valiants.
