Yeshiva University’s Center for the Jewish Future will present a Community Beit Midrash for six Wednesdays in February and March on the Israel Henry Beren Campus at 215 Lexington Avenue, New York City. The dates are February 8, 15 and 22, and March 1, 8 and 15.
Rabbi Daniel Z. Feldman, Rosh Yeshiva at YU-affiliated Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary and instructor at Sy Syms School of Business and Wurzweiler School of Social Work, will present a series of lectures titled “Halachic Observance in the Information Age,” exploring the relevant and complex interplay between halachic and ethical concepts and contemporary society. Topics include 21st-Century Shidduchim, Journalism, Marketing and the Truth, Intellectual Property in the Digital Age, Lashon Hara and Blogs and Political Campaigns.
In “Prophecy in the Second Temple Era,” Rabbi Hayyim Angel, instructor of Bible, examines themes in the biblical books of the Second Temple era, developing insights into the critical period of restoration and the simultaneous decline of prophecy. Topics include Ezra: A Miracle of History, Haggai: Imminent Potential for Redemption, Zechariah: God Is Hidden But Ready to Reveal Himself, Esther: What They Didn’t Teach Us in Day School, Ezra and Nehemiah: Different Models of Leadership and Malachi: The End of Prophecy and Transition to the Rabbinate.
On each Wednesday, Rabbi Feldman will present from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., and Rabbi Angel will present from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
