Students in Rabbi Yair Shahak’s Hebrew classes completed a unique semester project this month: Hebrew-language Chanukah films! Students wrote, directed and acted in their own Hebrew movies. Film plots ranged from the defeat of candle-stealing Dr. Lo Tov, to a sufganiyah cooking contest, to a mashup of S. Y. Agnon’s “Tehillah” with I. L. Peretz’s “Shalosh Matanot [Three Gifts].” Who says you can’t find a good Chanukah movie this season?
