(Frisch sports) On a beautiful Sunday morning, May 21, Yeshivat Frisch hosted its annual spring track meet at the outdoor track by Teaneck High School. Schools from both the New Jersey and New York areas joined the competition. Over 60 athletes participated in the races. Visiting schools included: DRS, Golda Och, Heschel, Kushner, Ma’ayanot, Ramaz, SAR and TABC. The competition was fierce and many serious runners came to give it their all. The different races included a 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 and 400 relay race. Top runners were awarded trophies.
Some standout athletes included girls MVP Ayala East from Kushner who placed first in multiple races including the women’s 100, 200 and 400 meter dash. Manny Meadows, the boys MVP track runner from DRS also placed first in the men’s 100, 200 and 400 meter dash. TABC was awarded the team award for the boys and SAR won the team award for the girls.
Frisch freshman runner Kira Moses stated, “It was an exciting experience competing against some great athletes in the tri-state area and I think Frisch was really well represented in the events.” Frisch track coach and event organizer Jeff Rutner stated, “The yeshiva track and field league grew to more schools and expanded to attract more runners than ever before. There were great performances from runners in all grades from freshman to seniors.” Congratulations to all the winners!
