On Sunday afternoon December 13, the Frisch track team hosted the fall cross country championship meet at the Saddle River Park Rochelle Park section. Runners participated in a 5K race. Runners were blessed with great weather for Chanukah! Track team members from both The Frisch School and The Idea School ran in this competition.
The Frisch track team remained dedicated to hard work and practice throughout the fall season. While maintaining social distancing and mask wearing, the team was able to hold outdoor practices twice a week. Runners participated in interval training, stretching, and core strength training. The team has a great mix of veteran senior runners as well as talented freshmen. Runners were committed and showed up to practices, competitions and meets. Most team members have made large improvements and big strides with their times.
Coach Jeff Ruttner stated, “It feels great to have kids get outside and participate and compete and experience athletics and competition.”
Frisch junior Adir Abramowitz came in first place with a time of 20:33. Frisch freshman Samantha Pruzansky came in first place for the girls with a time of 26:57. Senior student athletes Jake Nussbaum and Eliana Warshawsky finished in the top five.
The team looks forward to the upcoming spring season and hopes to add field components to the track competitions including shot put and long jump. Congratulations to our talented competitors.
