Yom Hazikaron served as a somber-yet-inspiring day for Yeshivat He’Atid students. The morning began with a tekes for grades three through seven. The tekes focused on chayalim bodedim (lone soldiers) who leave their families for the sake of Medinat Yisrael. Students had the privilege to hear from Morah Tzippy Giller whose son recently concluded his service as a chayal boded. Thank you to Asher and Leah Miller for leading “Hatikvah” on the violin and harp, respectively.

Grades five through seven also had the opportunity to watch a shortened version of “Beneath the Helmet,” a documentary focused on the intake and training process Israeli teenagers go through to become combat soldiers. Finally, middle schoolers heard from a chayal and had the chance to ask him questions.
