As part of the Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration, Yeshivat He’Atid’s students participated in a special חוויה ישראלית, Israel Experience.
Various stations were set up, each providing students with a special lesson and activity related to Israel. After learning different topics about Israel, the children completed a hands-on activity to add to their learning and this amazing experience! One station was חייל ליום אחד. At this station, students experienced a day in the Israeli army with Morah Naor; a trained former Israeli soldier. They learned about the War of Independence and how although Israel is surrounded by enemies, they were victorious. At אתר ארכיאולוגי , the children became Israeli archeologists as they learned about how Israel is filled with rich history and artifacts. They excavated pieces of pottery from pools of sand. They took their time dusting off the pottery and carefully placing it back together so the “artifacts” were returned to their original state.
Students learned about how food plays a large role in culture as they made delicious homemade hummus which they enjoyed with pita bread and a side of Israeli pickles. Other stations included the science of the Dead Sea, Israeli dance and so much more!
All the students had a blast and learned so much!
