This year’s Yeshivat He’Atid Hurricanes sixth grade girls basketball team started their spring season with a strong win against the Yavneh RedHawks with a final score of 27-15. Head Coach Aaron Neufeld stated, “I am so proud of each and every one of these girls. They all came together as a team and played with a ‘whatever it takes’ mentality to win basketball games.”
While the school is proud to have strong teams, it took several years to build up to this achievement. Back in 2018, Yeshivat He’Atid’s sixth year open, the school created its athletic department and joined the YMSSA league. At first, He’Atid had only two teams: a girls sixth grade basketball team and a boys sixth grade basketball team. Fast forward four years and the school’s athletics have expanded tremendously. The school is proud to have six teams which include: a sixth grade basketball team for both girls and boys, a seventh and eighth grade basketball team for both girls and boys and a middle school soccer team for both girls and boys.
As the school enters its 10th year, the student body has grown to 600 students. Yeshivat He’Atid continues to thrive and expand and so has its athletic department. The school is about to embark on a large-scale construction project to build a new wing of classrooms attached to the building as well as a state of the art gymnasium. The construction is expected to begin shortly and the school hopes to use the gym in the 22’-23’ school year. The new full sized gym will enable the athletic department to grow even further and potentially add even more teams, host practices and home court games. Good luck to all He’Atid teams in the upcoming spring season!
