The Yeshivat He’Atid toddlers began their unit on emotions. The class read a wonderful book called “The Color Monster” about a friendly monster who shows up to his friend’s house full of emotions. His friend, noticing how confused he seems, helps him sort his feelings by color matching each feeling until he has bottled all his feelings into separate colorful jars. Drawing inspiration from this book, the toddlers received a bowl of shaving cream with various food colorings and chose which feeling they’d like to create. Some children chose red for anger, blue for sad, yellow for happy and some chose to create a multi-colored bowl for those times when you have lots of feelings.
