Middle school students at YH had the incredible opportunity to hear from Hadassa Ben-Ari, the visionary behind Heroes of October 7th: Heroic Stories for Children, and Hanna Cohen, who shared inspiring stories of heroism, resilience and inner strength.
Hadassa spoke about the real-life heroes who stepped up in Israel’s time of need, while Hanna shared her personal journey following the loss of her husband, Uriel Cohen z”l, a soldier in the Givati unit. Hadassa reminded students that heroism isn’t just about war—it’s about the willingness to help others in any situation.
She also emphasized the importance of giving children cultural heroes beyond fictional characters like Spiderman and Captain America—real people who serve as inspirational role models. These are individuals who rise above personal fears, act selflessly, and put others before themselves. Even in the harshest moments, they demonstrate grace, heroism, strength, resilience, national unity and hope.
The event concluded with a meaningful Q&A, where students engaged with Hadassa and Hanna, asking thoughtful questions. Those who brought their books were thrilled to receive signed copies and the chance to personally meet these incredible women.
Special thanks to Hadassa and Hanna, for an unforgettable and inspiring experience, and to all the middle school parents who joined.
