In conjunction with learning the prohibitions of wearing shatnez, a blend of linen and wool, the 8th grade at Yeshivat Noam got to see and hear first-hand from one of the neighborhood shatnez checkers what goes in to finding shatnez. Dr. Mark Apfel of Teaneck shared his experiences and stories about checking for shatnez. Additionally, the students “checked” while looking at slides under the microscope.
