In Morah Yonina Ciner’s fourth grade science class, students have been learning about the parts of a seed and its process of germination. The students learned about the importance of nutrient rich soil with a healthy pH that can contribute to the overall growth and health of their seeds. Before planting, students performed pH tests on many soils including top-soil, organic plant mix, Yeshivat Noam dirt and Yeshivat Noam compost humus to discover the optimal soil for their seeds.
Different colors in their vials indicated different pHs for each of their soils.
Soil with olive green results (slightly acidic) was the best!
