Congratulations to the Yeshivat Noam fifth grade girls who won first place in the iTalam Hebrew Hackathon on Sunday! Yeshivat Noam was represented by 18 students from fourth and fifth grades. Students were challenged to solve an educational challenge: How to encourage students to speak to each other in Hebrew. Groups from throughout the Northeast met up at the first iTalam conference at the Wiltshire Grand Hotel in New Jersey. Participants created digital games to help students engage in Hebrew conversation. The Noam team pitched a platform to motivate students to push themselves. In their game, students can choose a digital avatar and move through levels (worlds) where they converse with the vocabulary from that world thereby getting digital currency to buy merchandise and accessories for their avatar.
