Special thanks to Stephen Flatow for speaking with the Yeshivat Noam eighth graders to commemorate Yom Hazikaron. Flatow, a YN grandparent and well known activist, spoke about the inspiring life and tragic murder of his daughter Alisa Flatow, z”l, in a bus bombing in Israel in 1995. Additionally, he shared powerful words about the importance of Israel and about the power of activism.
Additionally, in partnership with the Afikim Foundation and Israel’s Ministry of the Diaspora, Yeshivat Noam’s middle school students participated in the Yizkereim Project- Honoring Israel’s Fallen. Students identified and researched a fallen hero and pledged to do a mitzvah in their memory. The students wrote and read biographies in Hebrew and hung them on their lockers to honor their memory on Yom Hazikaron.
