Studies have shown that one of the largest one-time outlays of money that a family will make over the course of a lifetime is for home renovations. As a result, re-modeling one’s home can cause inordinate degrees of anxiety and angst, both because of the cost and the many uncharted decisions that have to be made. Thus, we can fully understand Yosef Avrahami, owner, president and operator of Yosef Avrahami Incorporated General Construction, when he quips, “As frum Jews, we are shomer negiah, but when it comes to our clients, we definitely hold people’s hands.”
Yosef brought his carpentry skills and experience in heavy construction with him when he immigrated to the United States from Israel. Joined by his two sons, Shmuel and Amichai, the Avrahamis have owned their contacting business serving Bergen and Passaic Counties for the past 45 years. Their stellar name in the industry stands behind every project that they undertake, from the smallest repair to the construction of an entirely new property. “We provide our customers with our extensive experience in design, construction, service and, above all, quality. Living in Passaic and servicing our neighbors and our nearby communities of Bergen and South Monsey, we treat our clients like family,” attests Shmuel. “Most of our projects come through referrals from satisfied customers.”
“We have remodeled interiors as well as exteriors. We have renovated bathrooms, kitchens and added complete additions and apartments to existing homes. In the 1990s we renovated a series of kosher restaurants on Cedar Lane. We work with our clients from A to Z, beginning with assisting them in obtaining the necessary permits to returning after the project is completed to evaluate and tweak when needed,” he added.
“One of our most prized services to our clients is our attentiveness to their specific needs and wants and our inclusion of them as full partners in the decision-making processes. We try to anticipate any surprises which may arise during construction and thus prepare and placate our customers and support them through changes and unanticipated adjustments.”
“We offer two styles of service. In the first, we submit a bid on the job to the customer, which he then compares to others in the field. In the second model, we bring in our own architect to design the project with the customer. Using either style, the client is fully engaged in the process,” Shmuel continued.
The Avrahamis use the highest quality materials, which they obtain from suppliers whom they have worked with for many years. All of their subcontractors for plumbing, electric work and HVAC are fully licensed and highly regarded professionals. Their goal is to provide an optimum workforce of honest, competent and reliable craftsmen.
In further describing the process, Shmuel offered, “We personally provide oversight of the entire project, from start to finish. We come to the site on a regular basis, not just at the beginning and end. And we are in the neighborhood for consultation after the job is completed.”
“We pride ourselves on being neighborhood contractors who service their own community. The highest compliment paid to us is when the next generations of local families call us in for design and construction.”
