Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Sick of these “protests” and “car rallies” that disrupt our communities regularly lately?

“Do not engage” does not work. We absent ourselves from our streets, giving little to no reply to their harassment. The net result is that they are emboldened and they ramp up their efforts.

We need to ratchet up our own efforts.

What we need to do is to form human barricades, in the streets, curb to curb, directly blocking their planned routes. The front rows should lock arms and carry a banner, blue letters on white background, with the words “YOU WILL NOT PASS — אתם לא תעברו.” Participants should wave Israeli and American flags. Ideally, we should have a sound system blasting our music that will drown out their calls for our destruction. But if not, we should have our own snappy two-line chants to counter theirs (I’m working on some). The usual speeches and history lectures do not work.

And we should not budge till they turn around and leave. Should the police ask us to clear out, we should respectfully tell them, “turn those cars around, officers, and then we’ll clear out.”

If need be, we must be civilly disobedient. It doesn’t come so easily to us, used as we are to working with the authorities.

But being “good little Jews” is neither helping our cause nor changing the situation. If anything, it just shows the world, and our enemies, that we are OK with being pushed around.

This has to stop, now.
