Young People’s Chorus at Thurnauer School of Music Performs at Carnegie Hall

In recognition of its dedication to musical excellence, the Young People’s Chorus at the Thurnauer School of Music has been invited by Distinguished Concerts International New York City (DCINY) to perform in “Music for Treble and Youth Chorus” in the Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall on Monday, June 26. The performance will be conducted by Francisco J. Núñez, famous composer, conductor, visionary figure in music education and the founder and artistic director of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC).

“It is a great honor to be selected and to be able to join other outstanding chorus ensembles through DCINY,” said JCC Young People’s Chorus Director Emma Brondolo. “This company, which is devoted to young, aspiring musical artists, presents at some of the world’s greatest concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and we are so excited by this invitation to perform on such an incredible stage.”

All choruses that have been invited to sing in this special concert will spend five days and four nights in New York City, rehearsing and preparing for their concert. Together, they will form the Distinguished Concerts Singers International, a choir of distinction.

“The JCC Young People’s Chorus at Thurnauer received this invitation because of the quality and high level of musicianship demonstrated by the singers,” said Dr. Jonathan Griffith, artistic director and principal conductor for DCINY. “In addition to the opportunity they’ve been given to perform on a great stage, they will also serve as ambassadors for the entire community.”
