YU 2018 Giving Day Is Heroic Success

For 24 hours, from noon April 25 to noon April 26, the worldwide Yeshiva University community came together to raise $4,538,697 from 3,004 donors during the university’s 2018 Giving Day. Donor participation was driven through a targeted marketing campaign, which included print, social media and digital advertising, as well as an enthusiastic team of student and staff volunteers delivering the message to thousands of people.

The Giving Day campaign theme was “YU Hero,” and highlighted the heroic character of YU students and how the university helps nurture and cultivate those qualities. All contributions made during the day were doubled, thanks to matching funds provided by a group of YU supporters, with an additional bonus round added during the last two hours that quadrupled every donation. In addition, benefactors made gifts totaling more than $10 million in honor of YU President Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman’s inaugural year, which included funds for Giving Day challenges and competitions.

The funds will support the university’s undergraduate, graduate and high school communities, as well as scholarships, student life and various other programs.

“This campaign builds upon the incredible momentum within our community about YU,” said Rabbi Dr. Berman. “We are at an exciting moment in our history, and we are thrilled to work with our many committed friends and supporters both across this country and throughout the world as we launch YU’s next great era.”
