(yumacs.com) Offensively, the Maccabees were led by Alejandro Saul and Andrea Lacche, with Saul getting the Macs on the board with a goal in the 47th minute, while Lacche notched a goal of his own and an assist on the day. Overall, Yeshiva dominated their opponent when it came to offensive production, tallying 19 shots to MSM’s seven and six corner kick’s to their one.
Yeshiva struggled in the first half. Despite outshooting their opponents by a margin of 6-3, the Macs could not find the back of the net, while two Mount Saint Mary strikes gave the Knights a 2-0 lead when the halftime horn sounded. Despite the early trials, the Macs came out roaring in the second half. Within just the first two minutes of play, Saul made the most of a corner kick, needing just one touch to both catch the ball and bury it in the bottom right hand corner, closing Yeshiva’s deficit to one. Not letting their momentum dissipate, the Macs kept pressing, seeing their efforts pay dividends just minutes later. Catching the ball at the top of the box on an excellent pass from Hadar Lavinsky, Lacche called his own number, deftly placing a strike past the keeper’s outstretched fingers and into the bottom left corner, tying the match at 2-all with over 40 minutes to play. However, while the first few minutes of the half saw a flurry of offensive production, defenses reigned supreme throughout the rest of the conflict.
Despite Yeshiva putting up 10 shots through the final half hour, neither team would find paydirt again, resulting in a final score of 2-2.
