YU Men’s Tennis Poised for a Repeat

Yeshiva University men’s tennis team comes into the 2015 season looking for an encore of last season’s history making performance as the first Yeshiva team to represent the University in an NCAA Division III championship.

This season, new coach Jon Rubinstein takes the reins of a program that returns numerous standouts from last season’s team. Rubinstein, for the previous 13 seasons, served as assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach at Drew University, which included 12 straight conference championships on the men’s side and three championships on the women’s side.

After last season’s 13-3 record that ended with a match at the NCAA Division III tournament against Skidmore College, the program is gearing toward another year of postseason tennis. With an abundance of returning talent, along with highly skilled newcomers, the Maccabees anticipate being at the top of the Skyline Conference once again and making a dent in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

“We plan on winning the conference for the second season in a row,” said Rubinstein. “We hope to advance in the NCAA tournament and get Yeshiva its first victory in any sport.”
