On Sunday, December 30, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls invites the community to their 10th Annual Day of Big Ideas featuring a keynote lecture by Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman, president of Yeshiva University, who will be speaking in the topic, “Who is My ‘Brother’: A Halachic Look at a Medieval Christian Dilemma.”
Dr. Berman’s lecture will be followed by additional sessions on a wide range of topics taught by Ma’ayanot’s distinguished faculty, including Mrs. Bailey Braun, dean of students, who will speak on the topic, “The Sailor Cannot See the North: The Letters of Emily Dickinson as an Invitation to Spiritual Exploration”; Mrs. Dena Block, Talmud teacher and director of admissions, who will lecture on the topic, “Taking Matters Into Your Own Hands: Lessons From the Gemara and Martin Luther King, Jr.”; Mrs. Ariella Rosenbaum, computer science teacher, who will speak about “Einstein’s Relativity: Simplified… Relatively”; and Mrs. Esther Slomnicki, a biology teacher, who will speak about “Age Reversal, Cancer Cures and Winged Wolves: Exploring the Possibilities of Gene Editing.”
