YU’s Women’s Tennis Team Remains Undefeated

The Yeshiva University women’s tennis team earned another Skyline victory, defeating Mount Saint Mary by a score of 6-2, at the Queens College Tennis Center. The Maccabees remain undefeated at 9-0 overall, and 6-0 in Skyline play. Yeshiva has also clinched a berth in the upcoming Skyline Conference Championships.

The Maccabees won two out of three doubles flights. Senior Tzipora Leiser and classmate Jenny Tepler teamed up to win the second position, 8-1. Junior Adele Lerner and senior Lindsay Frucher cruised to a #3 doubles victory, 8-0.

Tepler also won her #3 singles flight, 6-4, 6-4, while sophomore Rebecca Packer dominated her #4 singles contest, 6-1, 6-0. Frucher won at #5 singles, 6-1, 6-3, and Levy won every game at #6 singles.

Previously the team had earned a convincing Skyline Conference win over Sarah Lawrence College, 8-1. The Maccabees won five of six singles matches and were victorious in all three doubles contests. In doubles competition, junior Shani Hava and sophomore Rebecca Packer teamed up to win the first flight, 8-0. Senior Tzipora Leiser and junior Adele Lerner won in the #2 position, 8-3, while senior Anita Levy and classmate Jenny Tepler won at #3 doubles, 8-0.

In singles, Hava won the#1 flight, 6-0, 6-1. Lerner cruised to a #2 singles victory, 6-1, 6-1, while Packer continues her incredible rookie season with a #3 singles win, 6-2, 6-2. Levy took the #5 flight, 6-0, 6-1, while junior Leeron Chalamish claimed #6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

This followed a narrow defeat of the Sage Colleges, 5-4, in a Skyline Conference contest at Queens College the previous week. In that contest, junior Shani Hava led the way for Yeshiva, winning both her number one flights. She earned a win at #1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, and teamed up with sophomore Rebecca Packer to win at #1 doubles, 8-1. Packer claimed her #4 singles flight, 6-4, 6-3.

Senior Lindsay Frucher cruised to a win in the sixth singles position, 6-1, 6-0 and teamed up with junior Adele Lerner to win at #3 doubles, 8-2.
